This choice: Option 4: Lisa's best friend's mom: Heather • Go Back...Chapter #3Option 4: Lisa's best friend's mom: Hea... by: CassieG   "Her name is Heather Rhodes," the woman in scrubs said. "According to your file, you're good friends with her daughter Megan."
"No way! Megan's mom?" Lisa asked surprised. "Why would she want to rent my life?"
"Well, it's a two week rental, due to end when you would be returning from your senior class trip. She mentioned that she thought it would be a great way to spend some time with Megan before she heads off to college in the fall."
"Oh," Lisa said, letting the information sink in for a moment. She'd known that someone would most likely want to rent her life during the trip, but this was the first time she was directly confronting some of the important parts of her summer vacation she would miss. This would be her last vacation with Megan before college.... and other people would be living it. "Well, I guess that makes sense. I hope she has a lot of fun in Mexico then. So, how does this work?"
"It's pretty simple," the woman said, gesturing for Lisa to proceed into one of the small rooms off the hallway. "You'll need to change into the robe there, and we'll take your clothing over to Mrs. Rhodes. Then, lie down on the chair in the center of the room and relax. At that point, we do all the work to make sure you have all of the skills you'll need to live Mrs. Rhodes life for the next two weeks, and that people think you are her and vice versa. During the process, you'll be asleep. When you wake up, for the next two weeks, you will be Mrs. Rhodes, and she'll be Lisa Hale. After that, you get dressed in the clothing she wore here, drive off in her car, and spend the next two weeks being her while she vacations. There's a packet of information that we've compiled to help you live her life, just like the packet you helped us put together for her to live yours. Any questions?"
"You said I shouldn't talk to her about things... is there a reason?"
"For the most part, it's because it creates confusion. It brings the client out of their escape, and even while they are living your life, they have to 'be their real self again' to talk to you. It's a bit dissonant, and stressful, and if other people over hear the conversation, it can get very awkward. Our general advice is to keep your interactions minimal."
"Okay, that makes sense," Lisa said, neatly folding her clothes and settling down into the chair. "I guess I'm ready then."  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
