He was still on concrete, just as he was when driving down the road. But this concrete was rough and pitted, with a several-foot-wide gap not far in front of the car. Scott looked past the concrete, and saw a strange, almost alien forest, full of some kind of grass that stood dozens of feet high. He craned his neck further, and suddenly, his heart jumped into his throat.
Far beyond the forest, there was a building, a building bigger than anyone had ever conceived of. He couldn't even conceive of how big it must be. Miles and miles, certainly. That was not what frightened him, though. What frightened him was that it this giant building appeared to be a perfectly normal suburban house. Even further beyond it, there was another house, almost identical to it.
The forest was just grass. And he couldn't be bigger than an ant.
Suddenly, he felt a low rumbling. He wasn't sure where it was coming from, he only knew that it couldn't be good.
