This choice: When Eric wakes up the next morning, the new virus is all over the news. • Go Back...Chapter #4News Broadcast by: Unknown The next morning Eric continued on about his day like usual. He woke up, had a shower, got dressed and headed downstairs to get breakfast.
"Hey Eric!", Daniel called to his son with urgency, from the living room. "You have to see this!". Without hesitation Eric soon joined his entire family watching the news.
"This Samantha Smith reporting live from Central Park", the news reporter announced on the TV. Eric thought she was rather cute, with straight, brunette hair going down to her shoulders, olive skin and green eyes. She looked to be about 24 years old and was rather petite . "Where, what was originally thought to be a meteorite, is now been believed to be alien in origin". Eric's family gasped in shock to this news whereas Eric had a sinking feeling that whatever was going had something to do with last night. "Since then the National Guard have set up a quarantine zone until a team can be assembled to investigate this object further, back to you, Tom", Samantha said before coverage cut back to the studio.
"Thank you, Sam", Tom said sitting next to his female co-anchor. "If you are just joining us, I have some shocking news, an alien object has crashed into Central Park over night and though the damage is minimal it's impact has been felt across the globe, humanity is not alone in The Universe" he said in a grim voice. "Kate?".
"Further details are unknown at this time, but the president is expected to hold a press conference within the hour", Tom's co-anchor finishes.
"The objected crashed last night around 7pm EST and was originally thought to be a meteorite but once inspected up close was revealed to be a metallic in nature, since then the entire area has been quarantined until a further assessment is carried out. We remind our viewers to stay calm as their appears to be no threat at this time", Tom assures the public.
Old footage then plays of a fireball appearing above New York City before crashing into the ground, the impact crater, police statements, fire department statements, religious and scientist interviews.
"Breaking News", Kate interrupts the old footage. "It appears now this whole thing has been some sort of elaborate hoax, we go back to Samantha for more".
"Thank you Kate", Samantha once again appears on the TV. "While the fireball and impact crater have yet to be explained there is new indication to believe that whatever the object is it is terrestrial in nature". She then walks over to the commanding officer holding out her Mic. "Sir? Can you please tell us what you have discovered about the object".
The 6 foot soldier towered over Samantha and wore a grim expression on his face. "While we are not clear on the details yet, we can confirm this object is indeed terrestrial", he explains in a dull tone. "It isn't giving off any radioactive signatures and it has a message in English written on the side".
Eric and his family were both relieved and angry to hear this news, to go through all that drama to find out the entire story was a hoax. Eric, Randell and Stephanie were about to leave the living room when Samantha asked an important question. "So what did the message say?", she asked not just for her viewers but for herself as well.
"I suppose it wouldn't hurt....", the command says. "The message on the side of the device clearly says 'To Eric Johnson, Surprise! Regards, Alkazar'".
Eric just froze in shock, while his family briefly looked at him and wondered, though quickly dismissed the idea that it was referring to him as the lived a considerable distance away from New York City and there could be hundreds of Eric Johnsons in the world.
Suddenly a humming noise could be heard from the television. The noise broke Eric out of his frozen state and he returned his attention to the broadcast. Now the Commander and Samantha both were covering their ears as the sound got louder and louder, drowning out all other noise. In fact it was so loud even Eric and his family had to cover their ears before Daniel quickly hit mute on the remote. Then beyond the containment fence a green cloud exploded knocking over the camera and making the screen covered in green mist.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
