This choice: Attack the Mages! (High Risk) • Go Back...Chapter #5Attack the Mages! (High Risk) by: Unknown You figure that evacuating immediately would be the safest thing to do… but to your horror, you notice a purple gas slowly start to emerge from the ritual circle, glowing with dark magic. There was no time to evacuate! You had to stop this ritual now! You immediately nock your arrow, aim it at the mage that gave you the clearest shot, and let it fly! Like always, your aim was true, and your arrow plunged through the warlock’s head, killing him instantly and stopping the ritual in its tracks. While the rest of them were looking around, confused, you took advantage of the opportunity and immediately fired off two more arrows, downing two of more of the mages.
Before you could fire off another shot, though, the head magus looked up and noticed you peeking in through the gap in the tent. Now that her hood was down, you noticed she was some sort of black bear, and she looked quite angry. You try to nock another arrow, but it was too late; the bear reared back and fired a burst of black magic at you, sending you flying off the hut you were standing on! You land on the ground a few meters away, battered and shaken by the occult energy. Hearing the commotion, the crowd filling the festival all ran away screaming and hollering.
While you lie there on the ground, trying to shake off the effects of the dark magic, the security guards rush towards the tent, only to be easily slaughtered by the bear. By the time you finally climb back up to your feet, the bear was towering over you, her veins black and her eyes glowing purple with dark energy. You pull out a dagger, and immediately swing it at her… only for her to dodge your attack with unbelievable speed! She immediately countered by elbowing you in the back, a simple blow which somehow sent you flying into a nearby tree!
You kept trying to fight her, but your every attack was easily countered, and her every attack did devastating damage. How was this possible? You’ve defeated some of the strongest bandits in Armello with ease, and yet this simple bear was wiping the floor with you. Then, you realized… it must be the rot! You’ve heard being infected with the rot can improve your fighting skill. Perhaps, being a prioress of the rot, she was so heavily infected that she had now achieved a level of strength and speed no normal mammal would be capable of? Your blood ran cold when you realized the rot could have such an effect!
Your attempts to fight proved futile, and your attempts to flee proved even moreso. Soon, you were battered and bruised on the ground before her, a legendary warrior humiliated by being beaten by such a simple mage. As if to add insult to injury, now that the bear was standing over you, her foul stench was burning at your nostrils. “Fool! Interrupting our ritual? I would kill you… but you’re a champion of the wolf clan, are you not? Your people would just revive you,” she grinned. “No. Instead, I will teach you… the glory of the Rot.” You watched, confused, as she hitched up her robes, turning around and revealing her huge, thick booty.
You immediately flinched at what sounded like the bear letting loose a small fart. But it was no ordinary fart, no; in fact, there seemed to be a cloud of visible purple gas wafting from the bear’s booty… the same gas the ritual circle had been emitting! That was some kind of dark magic! Realizing what the bear had planned for you, and knowing you can’t possibly overpower her, you do the only thing you could think of; clamp your hands together and pray to the Wyld. You weren’t a very spiritual purpose, but you immediately start whispering every prayer you could think of, desperate to counter her dark magic.
The bear was just about to sit down on you, but seeing what you were trying, she pauses, seemingly amused. “Hah! Praying for a miracle, now? Pathetic,” she cackles, rolling her eyes. “Hmm… let’s see if your pitiful Wyld is going to save you, shall we?” She stands there, towering over you, taunting you with her fat booty as you frantically pray for help…
Your spirit is being tested! Do you succeed? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
