You sighed as you got dressed in your school uniform before leaving the room. You briefly looked into Jack's room to see if he was still there, but it seemed he had already left. You had hoped to catch your friend before you made your way to school. After all, there was safety in numbers, and you were much weaker than Jack in your current state. You passed the living room on the way out hoping to find Jack having fallen asleep while gaming, since Mary had stayed at Roxi’s house for the night. Jack made sure to keep himself clean and proper when Mary was around, but if she was spending time with her friends, he didn’t bother trying to impress anyone else and was something of a slob if left alone to do so. He could often be found either sleeping, the game and tv still on, with a pile of soda cans, chip bags, and pizza crusts all over the table; or getting scolded by Trish for leaving the living room mess. Either he had managed to clean his mess before Trish had woken up, or he simply wasn’t playing.
You suppose you could’ve gone with someone else, though none of your options sounded good. Zelina, Nattie, and Izzy would’ve likely done something awful with you. You probably could’ve tried to get some protection with Rico, but he made you feel funny, and there was usually some kind of caveat. As for Bryan… it probably just wasn’t a good idea in your current state.
“I guess I’m on my own for now…” You carried your book bag over your shoulder as you made your way over to the school. It was fortunate that it wasn’t that far of a walk… but there’s still a lot that could happen in that short time.
