Barbarian

Technically, you're not a barbarian.

In order to be a true barbarian, you would have to been born into one of the tribes that drifts along the borders of the Kingdom.

But the Kingdom finds it useful to train some of its own citizens in the ways of the barbarian clans that roam in the wild lands outside its borders. Such "pseudo-barbarians" are useful as ambassadors when the arm swords of barbarian warriors are needed. and as spies when some barbarian threatens to unite the usually warring barbarian clans under one banner.

Occasionally one of the kingdom's barbarians goes native. Once, two hundred years ago, one even came close to uniting the clans against the Kingdom.

You spend a year at the Academy, having your body muscled up and toughened up while learning to use the various weapons unique to one of the barbarian clans. The rest of your training is taken care of by an experienced Kingdom barbarian, who is living with a tribe of the Clan of the
