Much as you'd love to take a closer look at Jess's body from her perspective, you're exhausted. You don't pay much attention as you remove her clothes, nor as you throw on her nightdress. You do find that it's more uncomfortable to sleep on your stomach than it is in your normal body, and if you were planning on an extended stay that might matter more. But for tonight, you're tired enough that even an unusual sleeping position isn't much of a problem.
The following morning, you wake to the sound of Jessica's alarm, a nice, light beeping noise, and to sunlight streaming in the window, warm and comfortable on your face. As your eyes wearily drift open, you look down at yourself, and let out a chuckle of surprise. So, it wasn't a dream after all. And that means this will be your first full day with Jessica's body.
You throw yourself out of bed, taking only a moment to admire yourself in the mirror - partly because you need to get to school, and partly because between your drowsy, distant eyes and the tangled mess of hair that hangs in your face, there isn't much to admire at the moment - and head out to the bathroom.
Brushing your hair takes longer, much longer, than you're accustomed to, as it turns out that its length not only means more to brush, but also more to get tangled overnight. It's still odd to you to see Jessica's reflection as you brush your teeth, but you won't have to get used to it; it's not as if you plan on seeing yourself in the mirror as Jess terribly often. With a moment's thought, you decide to forego makeup. It's a bit unusual for Jess to go out without it, but you figure it would be worse to put it on badly and go out looking like a skank.
Back in her room, you decide to focus on comfort for the day, grabbing a pair of black leggings and a simple white tank top, matching with the same sneakers Jess had been wearing yesterday. All in all, you find yourself looking not half-bad as you give yourself a once-over in the full-length mirror. Not up to Jess's real potential, of course, but not bad all the same. And with that, you're just about ready, although it's taken you a good bit longer than normal, and so you head out the door, with Jess's parents already having disappeared off to work. But...
"Good morning!" you hear a sing-songy voice greet you as you start on your way, and turn to see your girl-turned-boyfriend.
"Oh, hey!" you say cheerfully. "Little out of the way for you to walk to school by here, isn't it?"
"Thought I'd walk you," replies Jessica. "And since I was ready so fast, the extra time was no big deal."
"Well aren't you the gentleman?" you joke. The two of you start off on your way, and after a moment, you continue, "So...how'd I do?"
"With what?" Jess asks.
"Y'know. How I look. I'm not gonna like, ruin your reputation showing up like this, right?"
"You're fine," says Jess. "Would have sent you back inside if you weren't. And besides, I didn't exactly have a whole lot of time to show you how to do yourself up last night. I don't exactly see you strutting around in heels, anyway."
You snicker at the thought.
The rest of the walk to school is...surprisingly not too far removed from normal. Jessica, even in your body, is as sweet as ever, and as willing to make a joke at your expense. And for your part, you find that you fluster a little easier than before, but otherwise, the conversation goes in mostly the same directions it usually does. Really, nobody would guess that you and your girlfriend had swapped bodies. The mere thought is almost exciting in itself - you could really pass as each other if you wanted!
Of course, your amusement ends as the two of you reach the school's front gates, and you have to part. With a quick kiss each (on the cheek, of course), you head off to not your respective, but each other's first period classes - and you're surprised that when you reach Jess's, you see a familiar face: your best friend, Devin Swanson. Nearly on instinct, you go and sit beside him.
"Hey!" you say cheerfully. "What's up, Dev?"
"Uh...hey?" he replies, more awkward. "Nothing, really. I guess."
You tip your head a bit. "Why so nervous? That's unusual."
"Uh. You're dating my best friend and don't usually have a second word for me. I'm not nervous, just a little confused."
"Oh. Uh." You didn't realize Jess and Devin barely spoke. An easy enough thing to talk your way around, but then again, do you have to talk your way out of it? You'd probably end up telling him about the body-swapping thing at some point anyway. Or, at very least, why shouldn't you at least enjoy yourself like you usually do?
