Elowen looks out over the crowd, and he can sense it, even before he utters the words. Years of doing this, using his illusions, as well as magics that are anything but illusion, has taught him the nature of his audience comes first. And here he can sense it. That wonder, that curiosity, that willingness to believe the impossible, that atmosphere that allows him to shift his show more to actual magic than illusions and sleight of hand. It is here, tonight, and perhaps as strong as it ever has been. Which prompts him to ask the question, the question he rarely uses to start a show, but when he does, it almost always promises a thrilling night.
"I wonder, if I may, seek the services of a volunteer from our audience this fine evening, someone who would join me onstage, and help guide our journey into the fantastic?"
And Elowen's eyes sweep the crowd and the myriad hands that raise. Some are amused, some disdainful, but tonight, there are at least three who could truly assist him, help him indeed journey into the fantastic. He smiles and selects:
