Chapter #3

Subtle Goodbyes

    by: Unknown
As Isabelle hastily packed what little riding clothes she had in her possesion, she wondered momentarily if she was making the right choice, running off like this with Daniel. She knew that it would would worry her parents, but she couldn't stand to be cooped up in these walls anymore. Isabelle could only hope they would understand. And it's not like it is that dangerous in the outside world. A feeling of doubt crossed her features briefly, but she quickly pushed it aside.

She knew where Daniel was, most likely in the stable quickly packing his things and would no doubt be waiting for Isabelle outside the barn. Even though the idea to leave was hers, she didn't know how she could part from her parents, without so much as a goodbye. However, she knew that Daniel would be waiting for her and that if she said goodbye to her parents that would lead to immeadiate grounding. Choices choices.

Sweeping her long black her into a low sitting ponytail, the princess pulled a peice of stationary from the notebook she always carried in her knapsack. Hastily jotting down a scramble of words, she slipped the letter onto the top of her un-slept bed.

"I didn't think that it would be this hard to leave," Isabelle thought to herself, as she slipped out her window as she had done many times in the past.

Daniel had always been her window to a world outside the palace, with all it's prim and magnificent beauty, and as Isabelle saw his shadow standing by the barn, waiting for her, she never appreciated him more.

Together, on "borrowed" horses, the two friends carefully and quietly made their way out of the castle walls and into the real world.
