It was Friday night and Inara was sat in her quarters, which were dark apart from a few candles placed around on various surfaces providing some small light. Captain Renalds had insisted that Serenity run with minimal power, due to the ever increasing threat of the Alliance and so most of the lights on the ship had been turned off, much to everybodys annoyance. Inara ran a brush through her amazing dark hair, pulling it away from her face and letting it fall gracefully over her shoulders. She was still brooding over Mals latest insult he had offered her way earlier that day, as he had referred to her as a prostitute (which she was, but she loathed the term) and also said that she dressed like a 'genie', in reference to her fine silk, belly dancer style clothing. Truth be told there had been a lot of tension on the ship of late not only between her and Mal, there seemed to be clashes happening almost daily, as everybodys tempers began to fray due to their predicament. Jayne was fighting Mals orders at every turn, as he longed to be rid of the 2 fugitives they had aboard (who were the reason for the Alliances attention), but every time the pair came to blows Mal always had his way leaving Jayne to sulk some more. Inara was getting frustrated that she was unable to find work anywhere due to the fact that they never stayed anywhere for long enough for her to even find a client, but this didn't seem to bother Mal; on the contrary Inara believed he preferred it that way. Inara stood and examined herself in the mirror but not out of vanity, she was just making sure that she looked the best she could as all companions must keep themselves properly. Standing at 5ft 7 weighing only 106 pounds Inara was astonishingly beautiful, her skin was golden and soft and her figure was trim and perfect. It was no wonder why her clients often fell in love with her, and also no wonder why Mal harbored secret affections for her.
