Get the word out!
Let's say you have a great idea for a contest or activity. You create it and wait. But what if no one enters? What if it attracts little attention?
One of the best things about WDC is the sheer number of writers and members, but it can also be easy to get lost in the midst of all the other great contests and activities going on. There are a few things you can do to help your activity stand out!
Advertise "Gaining Exposure For Your Items" gives a lot of great info on advertising and promoting on our favorite site. I know the Sponsored Items always catch my eye when I'm browsing forums or looking for something to read!
Title - A catchy title can certainly garner attention. Try to stand out! Instead of using something like, "A New Writing Contest," try to include the form or genre or a clever phrase to entice viewers to take a look. Utilize the intro, too!
Utilize your handle & signature - Make the name of your contest part of your handle so people will see it wherever your name is. Add it to your signature block, add a link to the end of public reviews! There are quite a few places to share new contests & activities, including this Newsletter!
Most importantly, I think it's best to be patient. It can take some time to get the attention your contest deserves, and try not to take it personally if you don't have a lot of entries, particularly at first.
Give it a try!
Take care, and as always, keep on writing!

Feedback from my last newsletter "Contests & Activities Newsletter (June 29, 2022)" , which discussed jumping right into hosting a contest or activity.
When someone opens (or re-opens) a contest, challenge, or fundraiser I am happy to add it to "Contest Clues" . I am even happier if the owner of the activity will drop me an email about it instead of hoping I'll stumble on it somewhere. I try my best to find all of them, but there is no reason to not let me know directly! LOADS of people use "Contest Clues" to look for these activities. It is fantastic advertising for everyone and it is 100% free.
