What Are You Doing This Year?

Whether it's planning some activities, vacations, or a movie watch list, what are you doing this year? In looking back at last year, I found there were things I did as a kind of "wing-it", "spur-of-the-moment" and stuff I planned. To be honest, the wing-it things ended up being pretty fun.

I think the reason the wing-it type of adventures are fun is that you go into it with low expectations. You see a roadside sign for a renaissance faire and pull in. With no idea of what is being offered or how complex the event is, you won't have expectations that the event doesn't meet. But nomming on a giant turkey leg and watching some jesters perform is better than sitting at home on the couch, right?

I'm the type of person who even if I'm doing something rather boring or sedate, I find things to entertain myself. The band at the winery wasn't all that great, but I watched the players subtly deal with a bee invasion on stage. Needless to say, they were moving around a lot while playing. Pretty funny! That could certainly show up in a story in the future.

I've also been trying some of the movie suggestions friends make, or the app suggests. If the trailer doesn't interest me, I move along. But since the app keeps insisting I should watch a couple, I gave them a try. Of course, there were a few bloopers along the way, but I did get to watch some nice flicks.

So make a bucket list this year, and give some things a try. Refuel the imagination and have a few adventures along the way! Write On!

Humble Poet PNG Author Icon: This is an Action/Adventure Newsletter and I do like action and adventure. The first book I read on my own as a child was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. One of my goals for the coming year is to write an adventure short story with plenty of action. I 've tried on several occasions to write such a story. Most recently, I attempted a pirate story. Those who know me will not be surprised to hear that my pirate captain paused, introspectively, before the battle, "To pillage, or not to pillage. That's arrr the question..." Editing it only made things worse: "I wandered smelly as a cod..." oh well. One day, I will mangle an action story.

K8 Author Icon: Focus on business plans. Marketing and getting all my digital marketing up to date.

elephantsealer Author Icon: I am thinking of probably sending out again a work or two...

Blessed Christmouse Author Icon: The usual. Eat better. Take care of myself better. Stop being so lazy. Finish writing something.
