About This Newsletter

Comedy can be subtle, blatant or purely fun and addictive if you find a show that is sure to make you laugh episode after episode.

Letter from the editor

Hello folks! Welcome to the August edition of the Comedy Newsletter.

Recently I found the TV series Wednesday. It's on Netflix with the second season now showing. What have I found out about the show? That there's a place for dark humor that is entertaining and funny. I fell in love with the macabre Addam's girl played by Jenna Ortega. She's perfect for the part.

Wednesday Addams is the Goth girl with ESP powers coming through her visions. She didn't get along well with others in her old high school. Well, I guess throwing a bag full or hungry piranhas into the swimming pool to get even with the jocks who bullied her brother, Pugsley, didn't make anyone like her any better. Since she is considered an "Outcast," her parents enrolled her into their Alma-Mater, "Nevermore Academy." After a little snubbing from some of the other outcasts she proved her value at the school and fit in perfectly. Solving mysteries on the side kept her from getting bored.

Some of her classmates include, vampires, werewolves, sirens, and some geek-dude who can control bees and spiders and other insects. *Spider* He had no friends until Wednesday showed up.

My brother and my son and daughter-in-law look forward to the show whenever they come over for a Sunday dinner on whichever day of the week it happens to happen. We all laugh our way through it.

"How can you WebWitch? There's so much gruesomeness in the show." *Monster7*

I know. That's why it's Dark Humor. When the laughs can override icky monster slaughter and severed body parts, and her morose character, that's talent! *Laugh*

Some Wednesdayisms: Wednesday, Netflix.

"I don't bury hatchets. I sharpen them."

“Anytime I grow nauseous at the sight of a rainbow or hear a pop song that makes my ears bleed, I'll think of you.”

"I know I'm stubborn, single-minded, and obsessive. But those are all traits of great writers. Yes, and serial killers — what's your point?"

“It's amateurs like you who give kidnapping a bad game.”

I've moved all my life, having been an Army brat and then served for 20 years. Just moved to Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Why everything went wonderfully smooth just as I planned... NOT. Still, even at my old age (78), I love the adventure of it. Every day is filled with new (and mostly pleasant) discoveries.

Wow, sounds wonderful. I looked up that city. It's a beautiful area.

Lots of luck in your new home. And always find time to laugh! *Heart*
