New Year Stress

It's that time of year again! January is a time of goals & resolutions, new beginnings, and perhaps all the stress that can go along with those. Personally, I've felt stress from work and the dismal winter weather. A great way for me to take my mind off my stress has been to take part in this contest:
15 for 15 Contest --- Closed Open in new Window. [18+]
Do you have 15 minutes? Come in and join this contest!
by Leger~ Author Icon

For 15 days, I spend 15 minutes writing based on a picture prompt. Sounds simple enough, but it's quite challenging, too! It's just what I've needed - something creative and fun! It's been the highlight of my January days!

Writing, of course, can at times lead to stress, if you're focused too hard on perfection, winning contests, publishing, etc., but I think it's important to remember that for most of us, writing is also fun. It's a creative outlet that we're supposed to enjoy! Participating in Writing.Com contests can help remind us of that fact. *Smile*

And if writing is stressing you out, why not take a break with one of the many activities on Writing.Com? Many of them can inspire a writer out of a rut or the dreaded writer's block!

Check out my Picks below for some de-stressing good times!

Happy New Year!!

Always keep on writing!

Ask & Answer

My last newsletter ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (December 28, 2010)Open in new Window.), discussed New Year's Resolutions.

Spidey, that's the big thing - making the goal realistic. For years my goals were way out of the world - now they are smaller and more attainable. Thanks for the reminder. Great newsletter. I like to set goals during this time because it helps keep me focused on what I want to do for the new year. ~ StephBee Author Icon

Thanks for the feedback! *Smile*

Sometimes a resulution is complicated. Sometimes it is easy. The resolution that these two guys have is simple: Get That SQUIRREL! ~ BIG BAD WOLF is Howling Author Icon

Good luck! *Laugh*
