Recharging
Beginning
I'm a runner. I started last year, running for 90 seconds, then walking for 60 seconds. It took me weeks to be able to run for 20 minutes without stopping. It was a lot of hard work, but now I can run a lot longer than when I just started. The great thing about the running community is that you're considered a runner from the moment you set out to run. You don't need to run a mile or compete in a race or run for a specific amount of time without stopping to be considered a runner.
The same can be said about writing. To be a writer, you write. It's that simple!
I hear people say, "I could never run!" just like I hear them saying, "I couldn't write!" I think the key is just motivating yourself to start. Find a prompt if you're lacking in motivation. Some great places to start:

Recharging
Once you're a writer (or a runner), you can experience periods of inactivity where you find it difficult to motivate yourself. That's where recharging comes in. See, the funny thing is that doing the activity actually recharges you and motivates you.
Running (or any form of exercise) releases endorphins which make you feel great and want to continue the activity. I think writing works the same way. After writing something, you feel accomplished and proud. Sometimes, you just have to force yourself to start. Once the ball is rolling, it's difficult not to continue!
Ways to Recharge:
Prompts - Again, prompts can be great motivators! Use WDC's prompt generator, or find a great WDC contest or activity to get you inspired.
Daily Writing - Set a time limit for yourself, even if it's just 2 minutes, and write whatever comes to mind. Often, you'll find yourself wanting to continue after the time's up!
Challenges - There are plenty of writing challenges and groups to join on Writing.Com. Let others help motivate you to recapture your love of writing!
Activities - There are so many fun activities here to inspire! Try an Interactive Story, a Poll, or an In & Out!
Contests - Competition can be a great motivator!
Review - Reviewing is writing, too! It can be a great way to improve your writing and communication skills!
It's important to remember why we love writing, particularly when we're feeling less-than-motivated to write. It's easy to find excuses or say we don't have enough time, but it can also be easy to write once you commit yourself to it! Don't give up, and always remember that great feeling that comes after having written something!
Always keep on writing!
