Almost two years ago I wrote my first Poetry Newsletter ["Join a Poetry Group" ]. I talked about a poetry group I had joined. While that group has since disbanded, I remember the fun and rewarding time I spent with that group honing my meager poetic talents. I did a search for poetry groups and would like to highlight two very active groups.

This group has been in existence since 1 January 2003, making it the longest active poetry group that I could find on Writing.Com. This group focuses on traditional poetry styles--that is, poetry which rhymes. They offer both a "Invalid Item" , which is open to all registered members of WDC, and a "Invalid Item" , which is currently open to group members only.
You can send an email to SHERRI GIBSON if you wish to join this 225+ member strong group. This veteran group has a number of seasoned captains whose presence in WDC poetry circles is well established. I have no doubt you will find a person or persons to help your along your traditional poetry journey.
| | The Poet's Place (E) Poets can discuss, review, request reviews, etc. of their unique form of writing. #1937699 by Dave |
Their group charter says it best:
" The Poet's Place " is for anyone who loves to read, write, or review poetry. It will be a discussion place for all of us to learn from each other. It will a place where we can exchange reviews. Once in a while there will be contests, poetry readings, review blitzes, etc. I will keep discussions going about poetic devices, forms, and anything else that pertains to poetry. I hope you will join us! If you are poet, this is the place to be!
They have several features that you as a poet might enjoy:
A listing of Poetry contests on WDC. (available to all WDC members)
A sample Poetry Review template. (available to group members)
A poetry Review forum. (available to group members)
A poetry Reference Library. (available to group members)
A poetic Message Forum. {available to group members)
Consider joining this 40+ member group. All it takes to join is completing a short survey: "Membership Application" .
I hope you'll take the time to check out these organizations. You won't be sorry that you took the chance to expand your poetic horizons. |
Please take a moment to check out these offerings.

It's been some time since I edited a Poetry newsletter. Still, here's some feedback from that last offering, "Creating a System For Your Poetry" .
From chicadee: This was interesting and informative. Yes there is a lot of emotion in poetry. I know my poetry has a lot of emotion in it. Yet not always self explanatory. I will have to work on that.
Thanks. Good luck with that.
From Dorianne : I had the same thoughts about poetry that you first said here. But it does make sense to organize one's work. Thanks for the advice. I just have to be patient and begin a fairly large task. Oh don't forget to mention that one should organize their writing books too. (poetry, fiction, plots, etc... It will help also.)
Thanks for your comments. Organizing is always my nemesis.
From ~ Aqua ~ : Thank you so much! I got a new idea of writing poems...from quotations or those famous sayings that really impress me. I always wondered on which topic should I write a poem...this answered my concern. I am glad to subscribe to this newsletter
I'm glad you enjoy this newsletter. Congrats on that promotion.
From bertiebrite hoping for peace : Hi, I appreciated your article. The information will be useful to me as a guide when I upgrade later this year. Since I write poetry and short stories, and other stuff, this article is right on point for me. Blessings, Bertie
Thanks, Miss Bertie. I hope you were able to put this information to good use.
Thanks for spending a few moments with me this week. |
