We left off, in our last newsletter with me taking the Game of Thrones challenge and leading the team of White Walkers into the battlefield. Everything became one big blur after that. |

Hello folks! Welcome to the post-GoT edition of the Comedy Newsletter. I hope all of you reading this, have received many reviews in July.
Eight battles fought, most back to back, left little time to do much of anything that was not absolutely necessary. It became a time of bragging about something done during the day that wasn’t GoT related.
Begin the Confessions of a Mad GoT-er:
“Today I washed dishes, did a laundry and changed the bed linens!”
Normally that wouldn’t get a notice from anyone. Normal people would think, “Well good for you, welcome to daily life and weekly chores!”
Yet anyone playing the Game, sent “likes” and like responses. One even claimed she changed her sheets and did a laundry that day, too. I guess it was GoT to do laundry day, because we were a week into the game.
Washing dishes was a huge accomplishment, from the responses I got. But, I neglected to inform them they were the night before’s dishes.
"I m taking a bath!"
Now, I don't usually announce these daily rituals, but in this Game, it's most often the time when some crises happens that needs my attention.
"Am I the only one who stays in her pajamas all day?"
Evidently, I wasn't.
GoT Sleep?
Loved my team, though. We were well spread around time zones, and different continents. Also, we had a couple insomniacs covering small slices of "off time," to give the effect that White Walkers never close. You know who you are!
All night long, one would be flashing armor. This was a at a time when one was in the midst of moving, another, who lives in India, was going to conferences for several days between the last two battles, and who spoiled the team by color-coding the list with their individual groups of warriors to review. Thus, leaving me the daunting task of trying to color-code the warrior list to each player.
Yeah, well by the time the last battle came, I was like, here ... it's black and white, just deal with it. Although, from trying to manipulate the list of 200 people to review, with teammates, taking into consideration one mate wouldn't be around for a few days, I forgot to add back on, one person's name. She began to "sob" about not being loved. I had to rework the list again and gave her several extra warriors to review, just so she'd feel loved.
There were also Two Baconators!
Two power-warriors were happily reviewing under the influence of bacon. They helped fill huge gaps in the list when needed. I'd be like, so is fifty okay with you?
SB, or, as she’s sometimes referred to as “Samara without the lips,” would feel a drain of energy, so I’d tell her to take a bacon and coffee break. It worked, great! It was the power food she needed to get the needed boost to battle on for a few more hours.
Web-Lock, also had a strong need for bacon. He saw SB mention it so many times on the posts, he started craving it. I knew I had to feed that bacon urge. I confess, I have never cooked so much bacon in our home, ever! But, he also had this renewed energy to keep on fighting the good battle. Although it was easier to keep WL's energy going, because as soon as I saw him slow down, I was at the stove, and the bacon started wafting into his nostrils, bringing a smile to his face and quicker tapping on the keyboard.
Bacon Update: I must confess, no bacon has been brought into the house since August began. It’s time to rein in the fat and cholesterol intake and go back to healthier eating and exercise.
Which brings me to shopping. We managed to squeeze that in usually when one battle was finished and we had until midnight before the next one began. We tried to get everything we’d need for at least a week when we did manage to break for the store. It was pitiful to look into our shopping cart, bacon, bacon, more bacon, eggs, cheese, bread, milk and coffee, and yogurt for me. One evening I was feeling especially energetic, all my writing challenges were finished, five prompts, five stories and or poems, whichever fit into the requirements. But WL was still struggling to get his prompts finished before the start of a new battle. So I headed to the kitchen to whip up something I knew would cover all of his fuel-desires, and came back with a full plate of bacon, scrambled eggs with cheese, and French Toast, made with a French stick bought earlier that day. Now he had the ultimate breakfast supper. The French toast was like adding dessert right on the plate, pacifying the sweet tooth urge. Smart, eh?!! Cook smarter, not harder, was my motto during the month.
We experienced a whole new world of Dutch oven , potluck meals. No, I’m not a slow-cooker lady. I love my cast iron Dutch oven and letting meat tenderize all day on the burner -- yum!
In fact, because of "Game of Thrones" I’m thinking about putting together a list of easy, cooks itself, recipes to share with those participating next year.
GoT Language? I can't say ... I mean I really can't say those words, here. I'll let you use your imaginations to fill-in those moments.
GoT Science?
As I write this newsletter, I am totally wiped out. It is only three days after the torturous games, and I feel this drain of energy, a bit of the blues, and some anxiety. I think that is the correct timing for the affliction known as “Post Got-em, Depression.” I’m told it passes in about a week.
I think it’s science related, you know you're in high anxiety mode making sure everything is done, keeping tabs on everyone's reviews and reminding the team to get things in on time, and throw something together on paper to get points, ( because they could always delete some of the more embarrassing entries, after the contest ends and judging is over, ) plus doing reviews in between, that some sort of “Second Law of something,” kicks in. I believe the reason for this malaise is that, for every action there’s an equal and opposite reaction. Thus, our brains have been pushed so hard to move forward, that when July ended, and the brakes were slammed, the opposite reaction kicked-in, thus concussing our brains back to where they were pre-GoT.
I bet you didn’t think WebWitch could do science, even if she doesn’t do math, huh?
GoT Math? Well that's another thing. I was seeing warrior lists in my dreams. I'd wake up in a cold sweat because I saw the same warrior repeated in numbers 45 and 180. So I quickly opened up the laptop and scanned the list again. It wasn't as I dreamed it at all! It was warrior 112 and 185 that were repeated! Then I go off to search the halls of WDC to find a replacement for the duplicate, within the alphabet, from N-Z .
Also, by the time I posted the final battle list, I got a bit numb, being brain frozen and all, and placed the House we were in alliance with, along with these battle dates: July 28, 29, 39, 3!
Yup, not editing that GoT math gem. It's one for the memory books.
Well, that’s all the energy I've GoT for this Newsletter, folks. May your August be normal, because sometimes normal is wonderful!
I dedicate this Comedy Newsletter to each team and their leaders, who took this game by the horns and marathoned the heck out of it! And to Creeper Of The Realm who made this suffering possible.
Kudos:

Web~Witch,, you poor girl.. sounds miserable have that happen, good thing you didn't break any bones in the process.. Yet you kept going for your teammates... Awesome job, I understand some of what you were going through trying to understand a game you know nothing about... NOW.! okay! And I did my best, as I'm sure you did too. GOT ~ ROCKS WDC!
Thank you! Yes, GoT rocked the walls of WDC. It was quite an experience. Also, I didn't buy another fan just to be sure I was safe throughout July.

Thank goodness you are all right, Ice Witch!!! GOT might make people do really weird stuff. I rushed for a 12am deadline then left for lunch, thinking it's 12pm (12 hours difference here). My colleague stopped me and said it's only 11.30am. It's only my first day.
I understand -- totally!
LJPC - the tortoise
Hi WW! I don't know what you're doing to incite your White Walkers to review, but a few have already reviewed some of my short stories -- so keep up the good work! (And stay away from fans. )
~ Laura
There were quite the industrious team, eh? And, yes, I will! WL wanted to buy another fan today, and I'm like -- Ughhh, uhh!
