The doorway to my heart has but one silver key.
One person, male, holds it in his possession.
My heart has thick walls, and a moat surrounding it,
Guards man the battlements,
Pitch is poured from every tower,
Fiery arrows rain down on any invaders,
A fortress, impenetrable but for that one small silver key
Held in his soul, his birthright,
The one thing that will hand over my heart
Bared of all defences, his from the start.
But I am not completely vulnerable,
For though he also has a guarded heart
With moat, towers and knights,
He too has a doorway with a small gold key
The only weak point in his armour,
And I hold that key, mine from birth
Mine by right as God is my witness.
And so his defences will crumble before me
For years have I been untouched
Unmoved by various men
But now I feel my walls crack
My arrows have run low
And I believe I have found him
For he makes my heart sing
My defences are crumbling,
I feel alive, shy, nervous
In danger from him.
The only one with any power over me.
He has come.
