Lust and smiley faces drawn in the dust
are how I remember this adventure.
I miss our bodies entwined,
and the summer lunch we set out for.
We discover ticks and too high grass
and the rotten smell of the river
were not as romantic as we had pictured.
Our near disastrous afternoon could have ended
with a kiss and thanks for trying.
Another attempt at being the lover she needed
falling flat as Mother Nature intruded.
Kissing turned to caressing and clothing falling.
It was broad daylight and a public park,
we didn't try to stop melting and melding flesh.
I didn't see a "No Public Nudity" icon upon the park sign.
We packed the car and left smiley faces drawn in the dust,
carried away the lust, it was one of our good days.
Nine months later we had Emily.
Giving into passion pays.
