A Holiday Paradox

Santa Who?

I walked around
On a barren strip of desert
In a dying empire
Pointing out
Cruelty, hypocrisy, and greed,
I didn’t know
That two thousand years later,
A Jolly Fat Man
In a red suit
Would be celebrating
My birthday.
