short silly verse

The writing of poems ain't easy
even if one has the time
to find a subject to write on
and locate the words that will rhyme

If the writing of poems were easy
and I found a simpler way
To write the prose that I wanted
I would knock one out every day

Oh where is the inspiration
and why is it taking all night
Is it worth all of the perspiration
when none of the words come out right

There are millions of sentences out there
and thousands of words I can choose
It can't be so terribly hard
to find a subject I can use

I look down at what I have written
and it's very surprising to me
I realise that I've written a poem
