Thanksgiving Prayer

A time for family
A time of reflection
A time to give thanks
Thanksgiving time

Within the walls of Monroe’s bricked house
hands are held around the table,
and around the table they gave thanks.
“Lord we gather this Thanksgiving with thanks,
each offering you a Thanksgiving prayer.
I give thanks for this beautiful home.”
“I give thanks for my scholarship.”
“I give thanks for my IPod.”
“I am thankful for my new job.”
“I am thankful for this delicious looking meal.”
and so they prayed and began to eat.

Down the road, in the small wooden home
gathered together was the Neely family
They sat together and bowed their heads,
and around the table they gave thanks.
“Lord today we give you thanks
for the many blessings you have given.
I thank you for supplying the food for this meal.”
“Lord, I thank you for everyday that you give me.”
“Lord, I thank you for guiding me through this valley.”
“Lord, I’m thankful for my healthy baby.”
“Lord, I’m thankful for my family.”
And so they prayed and began to eat.

The Lord was pleased and
looked kindly on both families.
In everything give thanks.
