A Quatern written in honor of April Fool's Day |
| This poem is a Quatern. A Quatern consists of four stanzas of four lines each, with each line eight syllables long. There is no set rhyme scheme but it has a refrain which is used as the first line of the first stanza, the second line of the second of the second stanza, and so forth. Nobody ever can fool me. I know today is April first. But don't get any ideas. I will expect to see the worst. Don't pat me on the back like that. Nobody ever can fool me. Now please remove that scotch-taped sign. Let me guess. . .It says, "kick me." No thanks, I don't want any gum. I bet it's really a mouse trap. Nobody ever can fool me. So find another hand to snap. Who put an ice pack on my chair? Don't laugh. There is no cause for glee. I knew it was there. I was hot Nobody ever can fool me. |
