The full moon held Madison in its trance. She could feel the cold silvery pull as she stumbled against the brick wall of the alley. Clinging to the wall, she sought shelter from its lunar light. Changing now was not an option.

“Come on,” she groaned in frustration as a wave of wild energy racked her body tempting her to give in to her nature.

A young man walked by the entrance of the alley. Just before he’d cleared the opening, he stopped, sniffing the air. A shiver of fear ran through her body.

‘No, no,’ she thought. ‘Keep walking, nothing to see here.’

He turned toward her and she saw his fiery amber eyes, wolf eyes. Adrenaline rushed through her, her heart pounded loud enough she could hear its thumping in her ears. Her head felt as if it would float away. She wanted to run, but her feet felt frozen in place and her palms were coated in sweat.

He sniffed the air again. His eyes narrowed and his mouth turned up in a wolfish grin. Turning toward her, he walked into the alley. Standing in front of her, he took a deep breath.

A year ago, her team had been tasked with trying to find a cure for lycanthropy. They’d used rabbits as test subjects. She shook her head. Rabbits. Why hadn’t they used cats or bears, some type of predator with big teeth?

The man reached forward, stringing a strand of her auburn hair around his finger. Holding it up, he ran it under his nose and inhaled deeply.

“Hello beautiful,” he slurred as if he were drunk on her scent.

It was all she could take, taking a deep breath she changed from a woman to a rabbit and hopped away out of his grasp.
