On Being Yellow

Once wore the pretty shade of yellow
before that, a case of black
But yellow is the kind of mellow
Of celebratory tack
I prefer when I’m preferred
the taste of lemons on a sword
The glowing of brightest sun
before the shade I have become
Yellow is the star of the day
sunshine for all to see
far and wide such praise to say
Many congrats were sent to me
And now it’s time to spread the joy
And applaud the newly promoted
Their hard work and spirit we’ve heard
They all are truly devoted
Kudos to our new preferreds
Yes, yellow, yellow, YELLOW!
