Butterfly Blue spotted Butterfly Friend sleeping on a leaf. He hurried to his side and flapped his large turquoise wings. The wind from his wings shook the leaf and Butterfly Friend woke up. "Come play with me," Butterfly Blue nagged. He bumped his black body against Butterfly Friend. "No, I'm tired." Butterfly Friend did not flinch an inch. "Come play with me," repeated Butterfly Blue. Butterfly Blue's twin rushed over and swirled around Butterfly Friend. Both chanted in unison; "Play with us, come play with us!" "NO! GO AWAY!" Butterfly Friend yelled. Butterfly Blue and his twin made a final spin around Butterfly Friend before flying away. They went in search of other butterfly friends to chase around. "Finally, quiet," Butterfly Friend sighed. A young girl watched the scene fascinated. Her blond curls swung on each side of her chubby face. She looked up at her mother. "Did you see the butterflies, Mommy? They were like Big Brother, so annoying." The four year-old pointed at the butterflies fleeing away. "Can we take a picture of the butterfly, Mommy?" "Of course, Sweetie." Mommy lifted the camera up and took a snap shot of her daughter and the butterfly. "Now, let's go watch the flowers outside in the garden." "Okay, Mommy." She turned to the butterfly and waved a kiss. "Bye bye!" She took her mommy's hand and left the glass house. 229 words March 28th 2007 re-edited june 19th 2024 Ana Star |
