Memories evoked by an old photograph. |
Looking Back High school classmates, almost friends, teasing our connection. Her creamy cheek burns fiery red in the spotlight of affection. College sweethearts, more than friends, love bursting into bloom. Torrid nights of ecstasy heat dormitory rooms. More than sweethearts, wedding vows declare a lifetime love. Golden bands now bind a pair to live their lives as one. Beyond marriage, parenthood brings new reality. A couple's love can warm a house, it's warmer yet with three. After three comes four, five, six; the family unit grows. Passion cools as love matures, but still the embers glow. Looking back at fifty years with kids all gone to roam, I cherish the enduring love that makes our house a home. Author's note: ▶︎ 24 lines |
