Flash Fiction
Briston

“We have you surrounded.”

The voice seemed to come out of nowhere, and everywhere at the same time. They all froze.

The voice continued, “Do not attempt to escape, every possible route is covered, any attempt will be futile. Your best move would be to surrender immediately, peacefully!”

John looked at Sam and jammed his fist over his mouth. ”What the heck?” he whispered.

Sam was almost gagging trying not to laugh. “They must think we’re burglars or something!”

Alan was not so amused, “What if they really have some kind of weapons or something?”

“What are weapons?” John asked.

“You know those sticks that hard things pop out of and hit other things like other people or stuff. Remember from that film?”

“Oh yeah, like Oglethors, I forgot. But they can’t hurt us so what difference does it make?”

“Orzo, antz blllorzottle!”

“John! You are supposed to speak earth the whole time! It’s part of the adventure!”

“Oh, sorry! I just forgot. I said what if we hurt them?”

“The Guide said we can’t hurt them, we would only scare them a little if they see us. We’re mostly transparent to them.”

“Oh yeah, now I remember. They will just think they’re hallucinating. Cool.”

“What cool? It actually feels rather warm to me.”

“No, that’s just another earth saying, I don’t know. I think it means ‘fine’ or something.”

“Are you two done blabbering! Let’s go! I can’t wait to see the expressions on their faces!
