A true story about waking up Friday, 3/31/23

Or So I Thought


I was sound asleep, off in dreamland
Alarm had gone off, I thought not again.
Got out of bed, a battle I had fought
Time to start my day,
Or So I Thought

Thursday it was, ‘Dex’ I had taken
Forgetting it had caused me to awaken.
I’d slept longer than planned, such was my lot,
My day had started,
Or So I Thought

I inhaled the Symbicort, keeps Asthma at bay
Looked at the clock sitting a little away
What I saw almost put me in shock,
Surely it was wrong,
Or So I Thought

I checked my phone, the clock did not lie,
It wasn’t five thirty, I could almost cry.
It was two thirty, in a time warp I felt caught
Three more hours of blessed sleep!
Or so I Thought
