This is about my Great Grandmother who has Alzheimer's |
I saw you lying in your bed, frail and weak, but the tears couldn't come. I saw your eyes glaze over as you didn't remember me, but the tears couldn't come. I saw you struggle to remember, I saw you say goodbye and forget me, but the tears couldn't come. I came back and saw you again, but the tears couldn't come. I remember you asking the same questions over and over, but the tears couldn't come. I remember you starting to recognize me, but the tears couldn't come. I remember your eyes clear and remember me, but the tears couldn't come. I remember talking with you, I remember saying goodbye, I remember you saying, don't go, I won't be here the next time you see me, but the tears couldn't come. I remember leaving, my heart tearing in two, at the thought of seeing you the last time ever, but the tears couldn't come. I went in the car, your words echoing in my head, but the tears couldn't come. I went back home, thousands of miles away from you, but the tears couldn't come. I went home to the arms of comfort, I went to my room, and huddled on my bed, wrapped in the blanket you made, but the tears couldn't come. I looked out the window, and I saw your face in the stars, and the tears started flowing. |
