A Journal to impart knowledge and facts |
July 22, 2015 I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done. I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them. I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC. |
P:24 Wisdom, Knowledge or Humor, which is most important and why? I think Knowledge is a part of wisdom. Maybe in some instances it is even combined with Knowledge. If you have an instinct to do something or say something without knowledge behind it, where does the source of your instinct come from. Does DNA give out answers to random experiences, that may turn out OK? Can we have knowledge without wisdom being involved or wisdom without knowledge being involved. The book of Proverbs in the Old Testament is part of the wisdom literature. It is the king teaching one of his many sons the best way to live to have a productive life. In any event the boy did not heed his father's advice and we now know how that turned out for him. So, we use the king's advice to aide our own decisions. Funny how a book so old still knows so much about human experience. In my own experience in life, I know for a fact if I had more knowledge as a child, I would have made a few different decisions. Someone besides me would have been sorry for a few odd decisions. On the other hand, all of life needs a little humor. It helps to walk away laughing together instead of crying over the things that went wrong. Never walk away laughing at someone for their mistake, it's unwise. They will remember what you were doing when they made the mistake. Humor rides the wave of lots of different scenes. There are different kinds of humor. Humor can be added to almost any type of living experience if you think about the ways to use it. Comedians entertain us by showing us the side of life, that is better to laugh at then cry about. Its' a different perspective on almost any situation. Wisdom and knowledge and humor are all needed in life. Like Doh, Rae, me, is a necessary part of a group. Wisdom, knowledge and humor are part of attributes that make up human experience. |
Prompt: Your Life Story. What are the three best aspects of your life? Write about this in your Blog entry today. Probably the 3 are Spiritual, Physical, and intellectual. Being raised where I grew up, I had a father who tried to keep me healthy. I had lots of time to spend in the outside communing with nature, climbing trees, riding horses, roller skating. I was seldom ill. Being healthy became a reason to look into things like yoga, mindfulness, and heathy eating habits. I had a grandfather that prayed for me and provided me with a Bible at a young age. Also, a cousin who was instrumental in helping me go to church at a young age. In all of this I learned an ongoing need to seek knowledge about GOD and things written about GOD. Intellectually I love to learn and try to take on new information on any subject I learned about early in life. And I try to supply my curiosity about any subject with facts about it. Sometimes, I am able to share those facts in order to help someone else gain knowledge. |
Prompt: That's the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet. Write about this in your Blog entry today. I used to play classical guitar. I stopped for a while then a few months ago I decided to resume playing. I had to do some retraining of my fingers. It is turning out to be a good thing to be doing. when I play, my pet family all sit around and listen. so, if I miss a few notes or fret a chord improperly the audience doesn't seem to notice. Over Easter I was looking at music books for classical guitar on Amazon and found, "The Davidic Cipher" by Dennis McCorkle. This is a new learning experience for me. It is about the musical importance of the psalms. It traveled me to a new dimension. My grandfather, my mother's father, sent my brother and I New Testaments, with the psalms included, when we were young children. We lived in Pa. he lived in Florida. I read the psalms long before I understood that they were musical, and long before I ever read the Old Testament. Now, I am always happy when I can find recordings of the psalms being sung by a choir or person on CD. So, this book about the historical side of the Psalms is very interesting. It shows a side of the temple worship in Israel. It also evaluates the historical movement of music down through a lot of ages and different cultures. The build and use of different musical instruments are explained. Tunings and chords have a special relevance in this book. I took a music theory class in a small bible college in the 1980's. This is an addition to knowledge acquired in years passed. As long as we are on the earth we should be adding to the knowledge of our youth. People who can write what they learn; so others can read it and share learning are special. This song will grab you with its sound and its lyrics. It has been around for a long time. It has a meaning that should be understood by anyone listening. Hal le Lu YAH. We sing YAH! Anyone who believes in one GOD will understand. This is my Easter blessing which I share with you. |
"The best road trip or vacation you've ever taken." prompt from BCoF Road trips and vacations are something I never take. For now, I have a lot of pets. No one would take care of them. And I would miss them if I went somewhere. They get upset even if I go to the grocery store. Anyway, we used to camp with horses in Texas. We kept our horses in an Airforce Base Stable. One weekend the stable governors organized a trail ride complete with a trail boss. It was a true adventure. We rode 50 miles out to camp on a lake. We means my first husband and I, When we did this, there were people who drove the cars, and this particular time, we took a boat, because the campsite was on a lake. We cooked on campfires and we water skied with the boat. It was the only time I ever water skied. Plus, the lake had a bottom that graduated downhill, so we could walk the horses out and then swim them in the lake. At a certain depth (riding bareback) I could slide backwards on the horse, grab the end of his tail, which was floating straight out behind him, and he would turn and swim back into the shallows. At that time, my horse was a Tennessee walker paint, 16 hands. A very gentle soul. After the 50-mile ride back home. I gave our horses two days off in stable and paddock, complete with baths and grooming for shine. They worked hard that weekend and deserved a rest. I don't know exactly dates for this time in my life sometime in the late 1960's. My life was different then. |
Prompt: Use these random words: first, intervention, important, fare, action, swap, brilliance, and mountain. First: Make sure it is important before you get involved in an intervention Fare can be a noun or a verb: If it is a noun, it is a range of form or money paid for passage by taxi, airplane, bus, donkey cart or other vehicle movement that is faster than walking. If it is a verb it pertains to a specific action such as how someone or something fares when traveling or in decisions of life. I'm about to watch a documentary about where is Mt. Sinai. Since I recently read in my Bible that Moses said God, who released the Hebrews from Egypt, came from the wilderness of the foothills of Mt Sinai my curiosity was aroused. I'm always curious about the who, what, why, where and all information I can find about any subject I'm reading about. So, the Sinai Mountain so prevalent in scripture makes me wonder how high it is, where is it, what relevance does it have today and other etc. type info. Also in the news recently a delegation was sent to Mt. Sinai, so I want to know more. about it, The mountain and the delegation. I'm about to swap brilliance for action since my computer keeps dumping my present actions relating to this prompt. I'm going to post this if I am able to complete the action and leave the internet for the rest of the day to preserve sanity. |
BCoF: Prompt: “Knowledge is only one half. Faith is the other.” ― Novalis Use this quote to inspire your blog entry. The quote is interesting: If I compare the two, I will have to say in my life Knowledge depends on Faith. Without Faith, knowledge does not have a proper direction or use. Knowledge can lead people astray without faith. Faith shows us all kinds of things about ourselves, and knowledge gives us the proper direction for emotion, and self-preservation. Faith links us to a creator, knowledge shows us the ways to utilize the creation. |
Blog City: Prompt: March is March Madness Month. Besides Basketball, what else is mad about March? Here where I live, March means every kind of weather. On any particular day you can have high winds, rain, snow, ice, thunder, lightning, sunshine, or any other type of weather you can imagine. All or just a few of these listed can occur on the same day. One day sunshine so warm it melts snow and ice, totally gone. The next day a blizzard so bad you lock up the garage and stay off the drifted roads. The next day rain and floods. It is like the month is fighting a losing battle with spring. Different seasons are waving goodbye to us before Spring and Summer move in and take control. Forget the woodchuck it does not have a clue what season is going to show up in March. |
Prompt: Write about a Happy Monday. Today is a happy Monday. Some time Saturday, between 3 and 4 p.m. our electricity went away. There was a serious storm raging outside. It consisted of strong winds, rain, thunder and somewhere lightning. We did not get hit with lightning, just some thunder. The storm lasted into the night. Our corn stoves run a fan which is necessary to the way they burn. Of course, that means no heat, no Wi-Fi, and mint was not on my phone. I still had my kindles, some of my games run without Wi-Fi. and time, lights and games on my phone were running because I have back up chargers that run on solar. Flashlights that run on solar and some battery driven lights in my bedroom were amply available. The house never got too cold. Maybe into the 40's. It is pretty well insulated which creates dead airspace. As long as you can keep out the drafts you can stay warm enough. The electricity came back on Sunday morning by 9 a.m. I think. It is interesting how quiet the house is when we lose power. It does not happen often. This morning routines were back to normal. I can use the internet and do the laundry. Ho Hum. March is almost gone. Spring is sprung, and life goes on. |
