I engage in purpose, I do what I'm willing, Happiness is meaning, Justifies suffering. Blindsided by the pints, Drinking lightens my way. I fight against chaos, Though overwhelmed today, |
Unless you've seen the years, Pass by as if a day, You might not understand, What I'm about to say. It may be delusive, Attempting to look strong, As I come to cold terms, Long past my own swan song. Abilities I've lost, The grogginess of life, Embarrassment, weakness, Compound my daily strife. If I may quote Shakespeare, As if he speaks to me, There's but one last question, "To be or not to be." |
Kites adorn the atmosphere, They fly high though tethered here, Distance makes them disappear, Do they feel the pain of fear? If kites fear to fly too high, Why do they identify, As a toy, do they comply, With peer pressure we supply? If kites don't find what they seek, If they learned, like me, to freak, At altitude, would they speak, In truths masked by tongue in cheek? |
Sacrifice Your sins For the good Of one and all concerned It's you who knows better than anyone else In the darkness of your secret room, turn away from your evil ways Flesh Will whither Return to dust Bone turns again to stone It's better if one should cry at night Than to suffer in lost spirit the torturous punishment of hellfire for eternity Heaven Is God God is love Therefore heaven is also love And true love knows no tears or fear Only the true love of an all-powerful creator can restore us to perfection |
My daughter was a typical teen, Into internet, cosplay, and the like, She didn't have much time for doing dishes, Housework, yard work, or even her bike. Until the day, despite her frown, I called her over and sat her down, I showed her how to crochet booties, To give to local newborn babies, She felt the love of giving gifts, She even learned to crochet daisies. She began to focus on things hand made, She forgot the online games she played. Her grades improved to finish school, She married well, bought a home, Though crochet she learned to think, And teach a daughter of her own, It's enough to make me shout out loud, Of my daughter, I'm extremely proud! 18 Lines |
My first love offered her virginity, But I fearfully declined, Not wanting to spoil her purity, So she gave away what was mine. Now, as I lie here dying, It's for this I'm still crying. |
She tortures me from distant memory, Her bright eyes smiling at passing men, I sat like a dog and worshipped her beauty, I'll die, having never known her true love. |
