Welcome James! may I suggest you enter a few contests here at WDC to dip your toes into the local watering hole? There are activities for newbies, but you don't have to engage in those at the exclusion of others. I recommend "Daily Flash Fiction Challenge"  and "The Writer's Cramp" . I too anticipate reading your creations.
