The Crown

A Crown of Shadows

A golden lie, a promise false,
Lures souls to power's deadly thrall.
A mirror's gaze, a heart's dark core,
Reveals the shadows that we adore.

A throne of steel, a seat of pain,
Where rulers rise, and legends fall.
The crown's dark weight, a burden borne,
Crushes the heart, and soul, and all.

A day's rest, a fleeting dream,
Awakens to the unworthy's scheme.
A legacy tainted, a name unclean,
A kingdom's fate, in hands unseen.

The crown's cold kiss, a fatal claim,
Seals fate, and dooms the wearer's name.
Yet still we chase, this poisoned prize,
And wear the crown, with haunted eyes.
