WRITING JOB OPPERTUNITY! Hi everyone! I've been off this site for a while, but I wanted to pop in to give everyone a heads up on a writing job. I'm leaving my current position for something in Marketing, so there will be an open spot in the editor's group I work in - and I wanted to give the people at writing.com the first chance. Here are the details (pros and cons). Editor/Copywriter for Pop Culture PPC Articles 100% remote work from home 40 hours per week, 9-5 shift End pay of around 11.50 EUR / 12.95 USD Team meetings taking place in CET time Small close-knit team that is easy nice to work with HR manager does sporadic wellness checks to see if workers are okay Don't worry too much about the requirements, as long as you write well, you'll be good to apply Please note that the position is marked as freelance and therefore comes with no benefits or insurance - and no part time options. I realize the pay is meh and the confining hours + freelance thing might be a turn off, but it's important to know what you'd be applying for. Also, due to the nature of the field, you need to be okay with things like output benchmarks or proceedures changing on a regular basis. It's good if you want a writing job on your resume or need a job in this COVID-current climate. If this is something that floats your boat, you can follow this link below (and add that you saw this in "Robyn's job post in Writing.com" so they know to take a closer look at your resume before anyone else's.) https://jobs.smartrecruiters.com/AdspireLLC/743999792736199-editor-copywriter-na... Also, pass this notice along in your own newsfeeds so more people in this site have a chance to apply! |
I haven't been on in a while, but I wanted to pop in and announce some wonderful news... My novel, DON'T SPEAK is now up and published on Amazon! [LINK] Thank you to everyone on WdC who helped and supported me through the process. Hugz and love to all of you. |
Writing as a job has been a dream come true - but it doesn't leave much time or energy for writing my own stuff. And I just saw that my WdC membership is about to expire. I really want to keep it but at the same time, I'm not using it as much as I used to ... Then again, I'm desperately hoping to get back into personal writing. Sigh. What to do.
Love and hugs to DogPack for sponsoring me for one month - to give me time to think about and swing whatever it is I'm going to do. MUAH!
Cinn! Yeah, long time no see - so long I forgot how to tag people properly! Yeah, just one problem is that I've recently moved from China to Spain and even more recently moved into a new apartment. Add that with the expenses of a divorce and my once flexible salary is a bit stretched thin at the moment. I agree that it's not that much. But these last couple months have been tight. But my WdC angel gave me an extra month to scrape together the money.
"There's no such thing as diversity"... Friends of mine have been planning an LGBTQ pride party in Guangzhou or a couple months now. They've been holding for 5 years in a row. It was going to unfurl this weekend. No marches, just a BBQ, pool party, and rooftop event. Then the Chinese provincial police got wind of it. All the organizers were taken into the police station where some very angry officials said, "There is no such thing as diversity. There is no such thing as a rainbow flag, and there is no such thing as gay. You will cancel your event and we will be watching the hotel this weekend, and no one is allowed in." There were also threats of being arrested should they try to proceed in any other way. People from all over the country have bought tickets to come to this. AND it's not just any hotel, but a HILTON.The chat tool we have to use in China (we chat) is 100% gov controlled and we are 100% sure the organizer's accounts and any other related groups are now being monitored. The amount of hatred here is some I just can't process. For those living in countries with freedoms, don't take them for granted.
Ugh. Some people just... Just... I don't see how people have so much hatred for people they haven't met for being slightly different than them. I mean, a BBQ party? That's kind of sad that they had to interfere with something utterly harmless. *super glad that I live in Seattle, an epic liberal city with an epic Pride Parade*
New update. The cops went to PFlag (parents for lesbians and gays in China) and said they weren't allowed to go to the embassy films and discussions or the gov wouldn't allowed them to gather or function anymore. It was along the lines of "we will tolerate a support group, but if you go, you make it political and we won't allow that". Well, that's it, come December, I'm getting the-f outta here.
My first professional blog post from my new job! . Obviously NSFW Sorry, I can't post it directly on WDC, but I can share the link I'm also in charge of sprucing up the actual site design. Looking forward to it. Happy Halloween, my dear friends. |
Radio Silence Hi everyone. Been poking my head in every so often. A huge thanks to everyone who sent out the wonderful reviews for the GoT challenge. Hugs to all. I've been quiet for several reasons --> I took a hiatus from ... everything. Burn out is NOT fun. Then my personal life fell apart in a terrible way. Things are slowly getting better, but most of my energy is going towards getting through my current trials and tribulations. On the upside, I've been offered a new job -- writing! Starting October 11th I will be a full time blogger. I'll finally be getting PAID to write! Woohoo!!! Not word by word, or article by article, but a full time salary! There will also be some photography and other creative work on the side. FINALLY, something is going good in my life. hugs and kisses!
I've been MIA till today as well - too much stress and things. Though yours sounds way rougher. Hang in there - things always come around. That's what they say. Just think - you now have a full time job doing what you love. That's wonderful news!!! And that change could lead to other wonderful changes in your life. Happy changes. You'll get through it. Congrats again!!!
Don't care what anyone says...writer's block exists and has currently taken a liking to obsession with me - Ugh, can't get my new book idea to go anywhere. *Ideas Fizzling*
Maybe it's a bad idea? Write down three reasons why it is a good idea. In those reasons will be the source of new inspiration. If you can't think of any reasons why it's a good idea... then it isn't!
Won't go into a lot of detail about my lows and woes, but this video has really helped me. I need to find my way "home" from my current "hinterlands". I hope this TED talk is motivation or comfort for some of fellow WdC buddies too. Hugs Motivation, Writing, and Finding Your Way Home
Coming down with something and I've used up all my sick days this year.
