Notes by Jessica Rune, in chronological orderNotes by Jessica Rune

So, after talking with a friend who was going to read my draft we realized I was bouncing from 1st person to narrator and talked about how I outlined my very first book which is not finished. I had done a 30-chapter plot worksheet, took those bullet points, and made bullet points for those for each chapter. The first chapter had over 20 bullet points, which pretty much turned it into a coloring page; all I had to do was color it in. I am using that same worksheet and struggling to show their normal everyday life and getting what they want which is the first two chapters. Now in the first draft what sets everything off is a car accident and learning about a feud her family was in but knew nothing about it until after the accident. So I'm thinking maybe I had it backward and it should be she learns of the feud and because of it the accident happens. The same friend said why not do like the Catcher and The Rye where the main character was looking back at it. The problem is I have never read the book. I am stuck at the moment and thought about trying to recreate the buildings in my head in the sims 4 and perhaps try to make the characters in the same game as well.
Instead of going to the physical level of putting pen to paper the first phase of writing for me is to internally roleplay with my characters. I just use my spare time to focus on them and think of what they do in any given situation. If I discover something important about them or the plot I take notes but it is mostly in my head at first. I even run through the plot in a general way playing out how the characters would react to the conflicts.

AFTER that I work on my outline using plot points from the roleplay that worked particularly well. I also designate the POV character for each scene to make sure I don't head hop or narrator shift. Once I have loosely outlined then I break it down point by point and make sure the sequence of events follows through properly by comparing it to my role play because I have already seen a bare outline of what works through that exercise.

When I am satisfied with my outline then I move on to first written draft. If you need to use an aid like sims 4 to work out your plot instead of roleplaying in your head then do it, do what works. I also find that making detailed character profiles helps with knowing them and what they would do with each obstacle.
Hey guys! It has been a while since I was last on here but I have good news! Last November I started a new book and did not finish it. Shocker (not really). But in April I did camp nano and for the first time, I could type the words The End. Now, I am writing it by hand knowing that some of the chapters need A LOT of work I hope writing by hand will help on the creative front. Now I need to save any money I make from streaming to go towards editing services eventually. I have already put it through the free version of prowritingaid and when I am able to get the paid version hopefully be able to work on it more. If I can't get it edited professionally I will work on the second book and who knows maybe someday be able to afford it and maybe publish it.
Hey guys! I know I have not been around much but I have deleted everything I wrote on the computer after handwriting it. I am going to continue my novel this way until I can get my hands on a laptop and not have to worry about my tablet or keyboard battery always being dead.
Thank you, Story Master and WDC for the sweet message. I did not realize today is my 1 year wdc birthday! I am currently still on chapter 11 of my book towards the end of the chapter. My new routine is working with my meds and such but I was attacked by the flu so nothing has been done lately. I am about over it and hopefully get back to the routine. I am not giving up on the book!
Hey guys I need yalls help. I know we have a lot of bookish people here. A while back i was given a bunch of books and about 20 of them are the old books with a record. A few of the records are missing but most of the books have them. How does one store such things?
That helps a lot thanks :) I dont have a record player so i wont be able to play them unfortunatly. Were working on rearranging the house so if im able to get another book case I can put them in with my other old books i got from my mom.
I know I have not been around much. Things have been crazy since I got back on my ADHD meds. I have been on a cleaning kick and working on donating furniture we don't use anymore making more room for me where the computer it. Once I get the playroom sorted which hopefully should be tomorrow I will hopefully get back into writing.
I have not done a whole lot of writing in the last few days while trying to navigate my new life with the medicine and once I get a routine going with that I will jump back into my book. Self-care is important when we're working on books and such.
Last week I put it out there that I was struggling with my ADHD. Today I saw the dr and we decided to give medicine a try. Worried about the dizzy side effect I waited until I got home to take it and so far I have been calm. Things that would drive me up a wall and cause me to snap didn't happen. I was calm. I will take it for three weeks and report back to the dr. Maybe now I can get back on track with things. I have not gotten dizzy yet either. I am keeping a journal to track how I feel so I can tell dr the results when I go back to him.

Jessica, there are many meds that have certain side effects. I take some of those myself. However, if you need it, take it. Many of the side effects aren't that bad and your body will adapt in a short time.
Yes, so far so good with the meds :) I learned the one he put me on could take up to 2 weeks to fully kick in. Its time release so i will get a 2 part release system the first hour and about 3 hours after that
Today I did it. I wrote that entry that has been on my mind since yesterday. Please be kind if you review it. #2180511
Thanks I could not get it to link up.
Today I will be working on a new port entry. It may trigger some people but I feel like its my only way to maybe get through and figure things out.

So for 2019, I want to get the first draft of my novel done so I can revise it and rage when I have it up here for others to read. Because I am not used to the revising and beta side of writing. I want to keep up with the routine I have made for myself and add exercise to it. I want to read more books as well and keep up with my author tube channel.
Last night jay went to bed early and got the kids to bed. I thought why not get some words in. That was a joke. It was like trying to milk a king cobra with oil on your hands. Than the thoughts started. Why did I even bother doing this. Nothing will happen when Im finished writing it. All those lovely self doubt thoughts at 1:56 am. Guess its time to sleep and maybe ill have better luck later. I am currently on chapter 10
I usually give up at the 300 word mark
Thats no fun. I have never reached over 20,000 words before until this year
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
