The Crossing Have you ever run into someone, and it felt like you’d already met— that kind of meeting the two of you will not soon forget? So many things in common— echoes from some unknown place. A thread through years unseen, bound you in friendship’s grace. Beyond years and generations, a bond that cannot be explained. In some distant shadowed past, you crossed—and friendship reigned. How beautiful it is, this connection— woven from threads that time can’t break. A bond so deep, it whispers softly, in the quiet spaces we both take. |
I wrote this this morning after walking my guide dog. It was at least 5°F at the time and windy. Winter in New York Cold—fucking cold. It’s bloody fucking cold. I’m absofuckinglutely freezing! Fuck this shit, I’m cold. I’ve fallen down 8 times this year— Such is life when getting old. Screw this shit, I’d rather stay home in my blanket. It’s too damn fucking cold. |

🌨️🔮 Breaking News: The Groundhog Knows All! 🔮🌨️ This morning, Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his burrow, took one look at his shadow, and made the call—six more weeks of winter! ❄️ But here’s the truth the networks won’t tell you… 📆 FACT CHECK: There are only three more weeks of meteorological winter left, followed by three weeks until the spring equinox. That’s right—whether Phil sees his shadow or not, spring arrives right on schedule—unless you're in Central New York, where it might not hit until sometime toward the end of June! 🌷 So, is Phil ever wrong? Nope! He’s a branding genius—the OG weather influencer, keeping us talking year after year! 📣☁️ His forecast always lines up because in exactly six weeks, winter will start finally giving way to spring. Timing is everything! ⏳ So grab your hot cocoa ☕, bundle up a little longer 🧣, and enjoy the show (https://tv.youtube.com/browse/UCxWB-O-mwS0O6Su_pP_FqjA?utm_source=onebox)—because no matter what, the seasons will change, and Phil? He’ll be back next year to remind us all again. 🦫✨ #GroundhogDay #PhilKnowsAll #SixMoreWeeks #SpringIsComing |
I'm pretty sure my guide dog just alerted me to and we just heard a pack of coyote barking and howling on the other side of the creek. It is 10:00 PM now and it is their mating season. I know they're here. I just haven't seen one for about 2½ years, and hadn't been out this late at night until I got my dog. |

I promised myself I'd be more active on here than in years past (when I had previous accounts), but sometimes January knocks me down a bit. Don't get me wrong, I love my guide dog and I love snow, but trudging through the snow so he can relieve himself is exhausting. By the time we're done with the first trip in the morning, I am exhausted. And, unless I can keep my mind off things, January 10 through January 17 can be quite difficult. (In different years) Grandpa died January 10, Mom on January 14, Dad on January 15, and my favorite aunt's birthday was January 17. She would have been 82 had she not died in 1989. Everything was fine until things got a little chaotic on January 13 and a picture of Mom pushing me in the stroller popped up on Facebook Memories later Tuesday night. The chaos from last Monday continued until yesterday. Now, believe I can breathe again. |
Began yesterday listening to Jacqueline du Pré and ended it with Peter, Paul, and Mary, after hearing of Peter Yarrow's passing. This trio was Mom’s favorite (Dad's too, although he was more into Phil Ochs), so I grew up with their music and even had the chance to see them live with my aunt before she died. Bittersweet memories, and a reminder of how time keeps moving, taking parts of our past with it. Where have all the Flowers gone? Blowin' in the wind—Still, THERE IS LOVE, joy, and peace for those who seek it. |
What a beautiful morning it is today! 🌨️ And doesn't Nicholas look like he had a lot of fun? 🐾 Yes, it is snowing, and I know some of you are not fond of that, but I'm not fond of summer either, so we're even. 😎❄️ 🙂 It is the simple things, after all. Now, after that fun-filled walk with Nicholas this morning, a recording of Jacqueline du Pré plays Elgar's Cello Concerto 🎶 and Henry, resting his head on my shoulder, purrs as snow continues falling all around. Remember, if you are affected by this storm, SAFETY FIRST: 🚗💨 If the weather or roads are unsafe, please stay home. 🏠 There may be children playing, teens and adults plowing and shoveling, or silly geese running around out there, like my Bouvier! 🦢 |

It's 21°F, with a RealFeel® of -1°F. Snow covers the ground, and more is on the way. Yesterday, my Bouvier des Flandres made a break for it to play in the snow, and in response, I wrote and posted a Haiku ("Snowbound Sprint " ![]() I am a minimalist, but even we sometimes end up with more than we need. Given the weather, I have no plans to go anywhere today and will most likely spend the day relaxing in between purging every room. I have two Keurig machines. Who, living alone, needs that many 'coffee makers'? But, in my defense, one holds more water than the other (and I get tired of refilling it). Still, it's not like I'm constantly hosting guests. One Keurig can go to the thrift shop. What are your plans for today? Do you think you could even part with gifts and heirlooms and still live a minimalist life? You would still have all the memories. I'll let you know if and when I add another post during the course of this. Be safe, stay warm, and enjoy the peace and time with your family today. +Blessings, Chellé |
