It is sad when one cares deeply for a person and some how it starts to fade away. It seems to take the joy out of living. I am sorry you are going through such hurt and confusion now. Accidents are terrible, it seems just witnessing one is almost as bad as being into one. I know from experience it can be very upsetting for a long time. I am happy you had the wit to take it cool and avoid being in the crash. I am also happy the driver was going to be okay. I agree I think the police should have listened to your side. I really enjoyed your essay on "My Experience" because I can relate to you. I have never had a weight issue, although in the past three months I am putting on an average of 6 to 7 pounds of weight a month because of a new diabetic pill I have to take.
I like how you are not going to be stopped because of how some people think and view you. I find this inspiriting. Keep working at your goal, you will succeed.
Your short fictional story is well developed. Your opening took us to the scene which showed how terrible this poor little eight year old was treated, It is sad a step mother would treat any child like this let alone her daughter. You plot is solid and had me filled with different emotions. I was sad when Rimi's Dad died, the poor darling knew way to much sadness. The closing is perfect and brought a smile of happiness to my face.
Thank you for creating this wonderful memorial for our fellow authors that have departed. When I first joined the site some of them were very kind to me. I remember getting word that they passed away. I thank you for keeping their memories alive. They are resting in peace.

Heart touching! I think that you have done an excellent job here writing about Bertha. There is many lessons that could be learned just by reading this story. I can not imagine what it would be like going through what Bertha did. I felt I was there showing in the showers being crowed and sharing them, being hungry and racking the dirt. It was sad to read of the bracelet that was put on her. I am happy she is free, married and loved. You have done a great job here.

Abuse is something no one should ever have to endure, and especially the abuse of a child. I know that children knows and understands more than parents give them credit for. They can not be deceived that abuse is not going on. I am so sorry for every child that goes through these things. The trust issue is understandable, how could it not be. To live in a world of fear, has to one of the worse things that can happen. I have been afraid a number of times and it paralyzes me. I would never want anyone to have to endure it. Highqwind this short story is very inspiring. I know many children who were crippled and were mocked and rejected as kids, which today things are much better ehan back then, the wonderful thing about your story is how Lily's Mom encouraged Lily to keep going, It was so great to read that she won the race.
