I have to say this is very short.. Is this in the idea phrase or something. You have an idea here which can be turned into something great with time and editing, however if this is your story it is rather short even for a short story...
And you might wanna review the structure here and you need to add punctuation..
If you work on it I am sure you will come up with something better ^^
I like how these two people seem to dislike each other at the start but they find out they have something in common like the nerdishness of a game of chess.
I like how they are challenging each other without loosing any of their pieces. And it gets so intense they actually like each other.
I have nothing negative to say about this. I think it is brilliant!
When reading this one of the first things which come to mind is "Doctor who". Which is a great sci-fi serie so well done for making me think of it. I am really fond of the device you have created and that one can only be observed. If ever you add more to this story I would be glad to read.
