Written at a writer's retreat |
| At the writer's retreat we were given ½ hour to write a poem. This was the 1st of several challanges we were given. THE RETREAT TO BEAT A writer's task is sometimes hard Their life is full of woe, Unfinished verse can follow them Wherever they may go. So when our group decides to go And have a fall retreat, Unknowns can spring surprisingly No matter where they meet. They're found with food, their plates piled high You'd thought they'd never eaten, Each stuffed their mouth so very full Like some poor starving Cretin. But do they write great works of art Their souls to elevate? Heck no my friend they choose instead To sit and meditate. And does that inspiration help Their writer's block to hide? Well what you see is this result And now you must decide. But keep in mind, it's early yet We've only just begun, And if things go downhill from here We've had a lot of fun. So Gene, Maria, Ashley girl Michelle and Debbie too, Whatever we accomplish here I've liked this time with you. . . . and I really did! |
