Feeling rather put out by life.
the moon always waxing and waning
my life always decaying
rotting and fraying
around the edges of my soul
trying to balance on this pole
falling, spinning out of control
follow down the arc of descent
land on my emotions spent
twisted up like metal bent
mind numbing drudgery, toil on
hopes and desires gone
the world's universal pawn
no objection, no complaint
self-induced, martyred saint
under wraps, under restraint
cut me just to make me bleed
take me only for your greed
deaf only when I plead
life down the wishing well
toss down a penny, my secret to tell
blemished, flawed, not worthy to sell
boxed in, hit the glass ceiling
time is the altar where I am kneeling
pain and suffering are what you're dealing
wipe the stars from my eyes
hold out to me your exotic lies
where darkness lives, passion dies
promising forever, only give me a day
shut down the ride after I pay
don't ever care about what I say
caught up in this dreadful dance
leaving everything up to chance
withering in arrogance.
