seeing is believing |
April 13, 2012 It is Friday the 13th of all days, I am graced with ability to see things better than only days before. I was called by Uniguard to work a position that pay eleven dollars an hour. I had been living on a pay of nine dollars an hour, never sure where I would be told to go next. I am determined to make the most of this OPPORTUNITY to redeem myself. I believe opportunity to receive blessing, is contingent on ability to rise up and take advantage. God offers the opportunity of salvation to all people and yet not all are in a position to take hold of it. Today is my day of feeling like life is finally going my way. I still wonder about the mysteries revealed in days ahead. I am faced with need to put bitter days in the past. It might be easier to blame God for the misfortune, today I look forward to standing on my own two feet. I say yes to adventure and the possibility that God still can bless a man who has known his share of brokenness and despair. I am reminded of the biblical story of Mary and Elizabeth. They met each other as receivers of a call/a blessing from God. Each of them rediscovers joy in the call from God that brings them together. As I type, my wife Sharon also is faced with an opportunity and a choice as to how she will respond to a call of a different sort. After what seemed like eternity of being unemployed she is on the brink or reentering the job market. There is something divine about the appointment, even if is a job prospect that could go for or against her. There is a new countenance of blessing embracing her, as she determines to enter the interview clean and well clothed. It makes one wonder how Jesus entered his own opportunity to bless all of us. That was an ongoing interview/dialogue that he would have with us. I can imagine Jesus getting all cleaned up for the big day,of washing the disciples feet. Jesus came to show that it was not up to one person to save the world. God calls others to serve as servants. OPPORTUNITY is a great word. We all have opportunities call us to a communion feast. On the one hand we discover that God can accept us in our broken state, on the other God can use us to bless others. In experiencing forgiveness we desire to share it with others. Opportunity in the person of Jesus has knocked, and now I feel filled with passion to share with others this can happen for them, treasured eternally without reservation. I celebrate with others that they can be messengers of the reality that Jesus is the Way, The Truth and The Life. |
