She's a Mother,
grieving for a son.
He is living a borrowed life
on medical machines.
Machines that breathe for him,
keep his heart beating
and organs functioning;
All the tasks
his shattered brain can no longer do.

She is sorrow laden,
yet still courageous.
In her grief,
she gives the gift of life
to total strangers.
The gift of her son.

People she may never know
will begin new lives,
healthy lives,
because she had the courage
and strength of heart
to donate the organs
