I do not know where to begin with this description. The time period is from 0 to now. Please don't ask how long that is. I am sure with certain clues, you will be able to figure that out.
I am writing this on my favorite old computer at home. I have a computer room that doubles as a retreat for a few of my pets when they want to be alone.
I will cover mostly current thoughts. I hope to add some pictures as I have seen in a blog. I think that to do this sharing will take a lot of work, but the pictures I have seen are well worth it.
Occasionally, I might review a flashback in mylife. I have times when I just roll that special even around in my mind until it has every possible facet examined. Usually this time is to try to figure out a "what if" scenario.
If some of my items have no zest to it feel free to say so. I think that after I have some a few trial runs, then the real me will be out for all of the world to see. Luck you! As the saying goes, "Come with me and the best is yet to be."
I've found that, for myself, thinking 1-2 steps ahead isn't difficult; it's the 3+ steps ahead that I started to get overwhelmed with all the possibilities. Which probably explains why I'm not a very good chess player!
Happy Birthday to you.
I agree that April is a great month for birthday that is filled with warm weather and lots of friends. It has all the makings for a fun time in which one can go outdoors and visit friends you missed during bad weather time.
Enjoy! Celebrate! Soak in that vitamin D from the sun!

Thank you to Soldier Mike for your read and special comments. I like the mention that the acronym is something personal. I would need a little help with X's or Qs. I had a Quincy in my class one time. He wasn't quick or quiet. I knew that he asked a lot of questions so 'Questioning' seemed to fit. He did not mind, and he enjoyed the word. If a person had a short name then I allowed the student to use their last name. I always wanted my students to have a good day.
These Blog writings are thought provoking and fun.
So since it is Spring, let me wish you and your family a nice Springtime. I was glad to see the last snow we had melted. I can take longer walks and go outside to write more.
Take care !
Soldier Mike
Thank you for your read and response on this blog. I usually keep my t-shirts for a long time. Then when they do not have to good as new look I either use them as undershirts to become a layer in winter or pajama wear. I have shirts that I bought when I went to different cities for the U. S. National Fencing tournaments that I qualified for. The older ones/shirts I keep as a way to remember the where and when I went.
As for the jeans, I seem to have gained a little weight since I retired from my sport. You can't lose it if you don't burn those calories. One cannot fence in jeans. A fencer must wear all white. White jeans are really hard to find. So the blue jeans are part of my travel ensemble.
My jeans are usually blue, elastic waist and not tapered in the legs. I grew up in the country so that style reminds me of home. I did not live on a farm but tried to help with yard work. Weeding flowerbeds in particular. It helped me see nature and find special animals. (baby birds, lizards, snakes, caterpillars, and such.)
Well I have shared enough and thank you for your reaction.
Have a nice day.
Happy Spring time.
Picking the right clothing can be a challenge, especially if, as you say, your preferred size regularly becomes unavailable. I have enough t-shirts to last the rest of my life (and I've owned some more than half my life), so jeans are my most "frequent" purchase; as I'm no longer part of the rough-and-tumble set, they last quite a while. Color selection's easy: black, tan or basic blue go with anything and support my severely limited fashion sense.
A Note of Gratitude
This story is about 50 years old. I was a senior in high school. It was the last day of our school year and a few minutes before lunchtime. I was checking in my purse and my mother forgot to give me money for lunch. I mumbled, "Oh my mother forgot my lunch money."
A boy across the aisle heard me. He reached into back pocket and pulled out his wallet. "Here," he replied "Have a nice lunch" as he gave me a one dollar bill."
I whispered, "Thank you." I was embarrassed but took it. I did not think about day it was. I was hungry.
Now those many years later, I have found this gentleman who has been married to the love of his life for about 40 years.
I have no intention of trying to call him because I do not want to upset or cause them any friction. But I do want to pay him back with something that is indeed worth more than a dollar. I have a friend who might help me once I explain what I want to do.
But if I could write a note, I would like to say"
Dear XXXX,
Thank you for what you did on our last day in high school.
You did what I do not think anyone else would do, and that is show me kindness.
I have a surprise for you and your wife that should come in about 1-2 weeks. This
is for the dollar you gave me so I wouldn't go hungry on the last day of school. I wish you both
a long marriage with happiness and good health.
Take care. Love each other. Bless you.
Then my name.
It is that act of kindness that was appreciated. I have tried to pass it on. And I always will
in honor of my friend.
The End.
I am very proud of my heritage. My father's side came from the UK and became wonderful citizens.
I think that M.M. is in the marriage for titles and money only for herself. You either like her or don't.
She may have children from HRH Prince Harry. But she is as crafty as Queen Camilla.
She has not taken time to familiarize herself with protocol of royalty. She does not learn much about the history of this country.
And her behavior is not of good standards.
I would not wish to meet her. Poor Harry might be hurt when she leaves unless they decide on separation. And for those who feed her need for attention and compliments, they need to stop. I think that she should come to her senses.
I hope that anyone who wants to use substandard behavior, remember what has happened to now, Mr. Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His life is different and he must behave for his daughter's sake. He hurt himself and others. M. M. might do the same.
"Oh what a beautiful morning!" exclaimed Dirk the happy turkey. "And here comes that sweet old lady, Trudy the food lady. "
"Mm-mh! That is some chop corn dream girl." added Huey the Ten pound idol of the girl turkeys.
The other turkeys ran up to the part of the yard where Trudy was carrying a big pail of chopped corn. "Come children. Eat your fill and get some rest because tomorrow is the day when we will pick the best." Sprinkle. Sprinkle!
"Hey yea." murmured Huey. He strutted up to an untouched pile of corn and started picking up the pretty yellow corn. Smack. Smack.
"Hey Girls." shouted Dirk. "Come see who can get got 15 pounds the fastest."
"Honey! Are you crazy?" Paula retorted. " Do you remember Jumping Joe who weighed in at 14 1/2 pounds last year?"
"Uh huh." answered Huey.
"Well after he ate, the old lady took him into the back yard and we think rung his neck. The screams were heard for 5 minutes and then nothing."
"Nothing?" Bart who wandered up to join the meal.
"Oh yes. And I saw a whole pile of feathers on the ground." Cindy added." One was all brown like Joe had. No one has seen him since.." Her voice tapered off with a choked teary voice.
"Oh no! And I remember that it was after a cold spell." Bart added.
"Oh my gosh.!" Dirk started looking around. "Where can we hide?"
"We never learned to fly. So let's go over to Mr. Dennis's house. " whispered Huey. "I heard that they are Vegans."
"That means that they will only eat animals whose names start with a ''v."
"No you stupid turkey. It means that they eat turkeys whose names start with a 'v'. "said Bart.
"Oh no!" screamed Dirk. "It's every turkey for himself. Run!" as he started checking his legs out.
"I'm going to hide under the henhouse!" moaned Cindy.
"I think the cow in the barn will help me. She owes me a favor!" Said Trey who was listening.
"On the count of 3. 1.....2.....3...GOOOOOO!" shouted Bart.
Now who was the guest for the next day's meal?
You will have to wait until Thanksgiving Day to find out!
There has been big controversy over Tim Smith’s generosity of. His pennies were to given the “Help the Hairless Chihuahua Puppies Foundation.” He had an abundance of pennies in his piggy bank. It ended up that he had 5 piggy banks full of pennies. His mother was stunned that he had b been saving them so long. He had gathered pennies when he saw them in the streets and on floors in the stores. He thought that the money might become useful in the future for those sweet puppies. . And the fact that his continuation of the collection was just a waste of his time thought his older brother. But all in all they admired his generosity in the donation to an animal cause which made people be impressed with his loving personality.
Then sadness arose in his heart because pennies would not be made any more. Tim was hoping that the charity would accept his donation.
So you know anyone who might want 5 piggy banks of pennies? We will let you know later.
But I liked the character Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. She was strong and determined. She helped the three characters: the Tinsman
, The Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow. They all got the features that they lacked by her help. Unfortunately she is guilty of witch murder when she threw water on the Wicked Witch of the West. She also sang a song that was a classic. Over the Rainbow. Miss Garland was a good actress.
The Fifth Dimension Not the singing group.
Talk about something that I have read about and seen on the science fiction shows, movies and dreams, I think that there must be a dimension that one must enter through a portal.
My research on my internet sources say that there are a few classifications. That makes for a writer's dream of prompts that is almost endless. And the winner of the prompt is (drum roll: trrrrrrrrrrrr--cymbals bang with a climatic bo-ing to set up) TIME PORTAL (tah dah---- applause and a sudden hush) The cameras slowly open up to a dark view. The lights go on very slowly with that science fiction music in the background. The audience gasps-AHHH. Some in the back rows cover their eyes and say, "Please don't let there be monsters or aliens." Their hearts beat faster as the scene lights up to the place of people in spacesuits. One can hear the breathing though the air system as heard when Darth Vader was about to talk in the Star Wars movie. But that was then. This is NOW. And the year is 3025 or 1000 years into the future.
The communication's click was heard before each person spoke. CLICK "Is everyone alright?" The speaker is a six foot tall figure that looks like an earthling. On that person's shoulder is a patch that acknowledges it to be a leader of some sort.
"Yes" responds the crew, one at a time. There are 5 other members of this crew.
I do not want to get into a story that will take time so:
The crew are descendants of people who flew to Mars to live long ago.
They were told that all wars and nuclear bombs have been culminated.
It is safe to return with family, belongings and foods.
Their goal is recolonization of the land masses that they planned to go to in this event.
Through earthquakes and the bombings, there is no longer the 7 continents but 12 continents. Some people went to live in tunnels and levels below the earth's surface. They have been hard to reach and are assumed to have moved to other tunnels or died. The earth and its surface is a mess and will need help from the scientists and military to bring earth back to a livable condition. The previous deserts were turned into fields to grow food material, to begin building new cities and military outposts.
Only the top 3 percent of the population of the highest IQ will be allowed to procreate.
Animals will be taken to places to study and be used for experiments of health sustaining circumstances.
The leadership will be on a rotating basis for 10 years and then the next group will be introduced in the ninth to tenth year and then take over. There are four groups to be made.
No guns or bomb making material will be in the hands of any civilians but the leaders. Anyone committing a violent crime will be sent to a correction asylum for a pre-determined time.
Contagious disease people will be studied and if determined to be extremely hazardous, terminated.
I wish to go on but this is a society that is bound to be unpopular and unacceptable. Some aliens do try to help but were murdered for their efforts. Many people took the offer to stay on Mars. There is an ending but .....my lips are sealed. I started one way and my mind jumped into this crazy story. I apologize if it made you sick. Have a good day.
A Long Life Doesn't Matter
That is indeed a question or prompt that one can look at from several different ways. Things, especially life is different in these days than before. None of my family worked in coal mines in which coal dust was not good for the respiratory system, coal mines could have a cave in, bad again, and carcinogens like diesel exhaust and heat stress. But a person who was a farmer risked cancer from herbicides or tractor accidents.
My brother was in the military and did not become involved in combat but was exposed to Agent Orange. He has been fighting cancer for a few years. While a mechanic of the air planes for the military could have exposure to hazardous chemicals, that caused skin and/or respiratory issues. There could be noise induced hearing loss, physical injuries, or workload stress.
Different eras present different difficulties. Each family has different environments. And no one is born perfect.
My family on each parents' side had stumbling blocks or adversities to identify and overcome. Both sides were immigrants from Europe. They were mostly penniless and young.
I'd like to suggest that for the person in question, here are factors such as household income, cultural background, place of residence, and genetics together. For a family of four children, who went to to live in the world on their own terms, the result could be that the siblings might die within 5, 6, 7 or 8 ears of each other. If they all went on a trip on the Titanic, then, guess what! All might die. If one child was a policeman, the next a doctor. the third a banker, and the fourth a school teacher in the wild west, it could be the same. (I think that I am getting into deep water with my line of reasoning.) Stop reading this if it is confusing or you'd rather not go farther.
My husband and I are about our parent's ages. We are careful with travel and activities. We are eating as healthy as possible. And we exercise frequently. Who knows if someone will sneeze a flu or pneumonia germ in our face. Who knows when a drunken driver will run a red light. And who know when an airplane we are riding on will lose it's engine and crash. If we are going to go then, say , "Good-bye!", give us a hug and be at our funeral. Our next address might be on earth or elsewhere. I just hope I did not have much pain.
Take care ya'll. And take care of our pets if we leave any behind.
1. My home that I have plenty of room.
2. My education that I put to use each day.
3. My computer that is a technology miracle.
4. My husband who is a man who keeps his word.
5. My 5 senses and good health. I don't think I could be without any of them or even one.
6. My job as a teacher which allowed me to help some hearing impaired students to become great people/adults.
7. My writings of poems, short stories and quips.
8. My knowledge of science and medicine that allows me to help others and keep my body working as it should.
9. My Savior, Jesus who lead me to stronger faith and Christianity.
10. My wonderful pets, who became my best friends and family when I was alone.
These are not in any particular order. As you can see I am thankful for much. As one article in this post reminds us of the benefits of writing. So true! And without education, I would not have taken care of myself or my husband. My religion through faith is what I try to embellish by the religious books, and Bible I read.
But the one thing I feel was truly special was my wonderful pets. I have had cats and dogs. I took squirrels and baby birds to a rehabilitation center. I even found a ferret who later was adopted by a person who wanted it to catch and kill mice that was eating his country's grain. I even had a crayfish who was a classroom pet. HIs little 'feed me time' pincher signal was so sweet.
And I think, if people would be kind to animals as special friends or even family, they would feel better too.
Animals take the blame for many things. They have no voice when people use them for experiments. They do jobs for police and military that make them heroes. I give thanks for animals, especially my pets. When they cross that Rainbow Bridge, they take a part of me. I hope that I see them again in the future.
I had been going through old notebooks of poems and scrapbooks with pictures. Some items brought joy and others reminded me of times of sorrow. But the items that had the most meaningful connection was related to Christmas.
The Christmas tree is so symbolic. I let my class color and cut out ornaments of different shapes to use as decorations as they wanted. The ornaments all turned out to be works of art. Knowing that a real tree would add the scent, the project did not need more. The students could not wait to take their personalized ornament home. I later learned that the ornaments graced presents and cards. My students loved the reception they received.
Afterwards I found an envelope with my samples, aged with time. This was the Christmas I was alone. No member of my family invited me to share with them the holiday festivities. No cards. No calls. Nothing.
But then I figured that I was not truly alone. I had my previous students with the memory of the ornaments that they had made for me to keep me company.
The branches were playing in the wind today. However, only a few leaves had been dropped off. Some leave had started to change colors. But most of the leaves were the same colors as a couple of weeks ago. I am thinking that the recent rains had furnished the moisture that the trees needed to begin completion of the yearly cycle of life. Many of the ducks had gone from the pond I see. The geese are now flying away at night time by the light of the moon and some landmarks they remember from last year.
But the winds are cooler, almost cold when I go outside to take my morning walk. I have a coat on but warm up quickly. Not many people are outside. There is no school today since it is Saturday.
I look for wrappers with candy and without candy. Our dog must not eat either because paper is bad and chocolate will make him sick. Last night's Trick or Treaters were so happy to get candy and a cheery "Hello." Parents accompanied all of the groups. Everyone was bundled up to be warm.
But today, the first day of November, the wind is promising a cool, cheerful month. Will the next wind bring colder weather? Will more animals be gone? Will I need to put out more food for my ducks?
I look forward to the changes I think will come. But the thing I do enjoy the most is watching the winds play with the limbs on the trees and the leaves roll across the backyard I see from my window. November winds are special.
