Three hundred seventy five words due today. I will get this done. I really, really will. What is a few hundred words between friends? Why did I sign up for this challenge? Do I not have enough challenges I am participating in, or have participated in? I do the poetry prompt challenge, and have for the last five and a quarter years. That is just fifty two poems a year, no problem. Then there is the Bradbury challenge. I finished that last year and even got an award icon for participating in its sister contest for the year. I am doing it again this year. I already have the first seven stories done. Not an issue. Then there is the contest challenge, one contest a month for a year. That is only twelve contests to enter. I just finished doing task four of the twenty six paycheck challenge. It is the sequel challenge to the I Write Challenge. I participated in that for the last several years it was run.

Why do i enter all of these challenges? I think it is permanently temporary insanity. I do it because I can. There are very few of these challenges that I do not complete. I can not think of one off the top of my head that I have not finished. I hope this challenge will be just like the others. Truth be told, I used to keep track of my word counts when I was working on my novels hardcore. For that I only tracked the words that went into the novels. I had months where my daily word count did not drop below two thousand words per day. Some days they reached five or six thousand words per day. National Novel Writing months were pretty much the same. I miss that challenge. I wish it had not fallen apart from mismanagement. Still, I can do it on my own, but that comes back to my one problem with writing on a daily basis. It works best when I have a sense that I remain accountable to someone for my goals. I think that is the reason for the insane number of challenges I am involved in. I keep my poetry writing up with that challenge. I keep my short story streak going with the Bradbury. The contest challenge keeps me participating on the site at a higher level. For a while the daily five had me going but it was too easy to let that slip so I do not manage it so much anymore. But if there was an activity or challenge that kept track I bet I would not have any problem with that either.
