black and white, yes or no.

I guard my heart
behind a chain link fence
hiding my achy cardiac flutter
and everyday anxiety
as the sand trickles down the hourglass.
Yet should we meet eye to eye
and agree to butcher shallow conventions
and share our shadows
I might spin
a gossamer web
behind that fence,
a web feverishly transparent
and shining.
