Crazy Paving

This how the lakebed has rumpled its sheet
shrunken by drought and silently raving
thirsting for rain in its baking hard soul
mud making patterns and glazed in the heat.

The Inca cuts and dissects his stones
fitting so tightly one to another
moulds and slices and smooths and sets
leaving us dreaming of playdough and goo.

Jigsaw puzzles and games of Mahjong
somehow I think that we’re getting it wrong
if nature can play such mind-blowing games
technology laughs and then goes up in flames.

Line count: 12
Sorta free verse but a chant ending in a rhyme
