~ The Poet's Place Cafe~

Dave, Thanks for plugging the reference section at Poetry Magnum Opus. It took me 6 years to compile that information and I have continued to add or amend the information shared over the years. Since I've joined Poet's Café you've shown me new sites and I have added the new information to the site. I have also found mistakes that I made when initially posting the information and have corrected them. Thank you very much for helping me improve my research.

I love that you have chosen "Review" for topic of discussion. At WCD most "reviews" are simple commentary with positive affirmations. I am very guilty of this because I've sometimes met with an unhappy response and most reviews I receive here fall into the nice category. It is so much easier to just find something nice to say about a line or image and then move on,. To really study a poem, discover why I did or did not like specific sections and give an affirmative yet helpful analysis takes a lot of time and a lot of work.

There seem to be many poets at WCD who post their work expecting compliments and really don't want to hear a negative about their creation. Even if it is meant only to help them see through another's eyes. The real trick is sharing a negative as a positive. That is a test of our writing skills. I kind of burnt out reviewing here but with this excellent article by you, I will renew my efforts in that arena. One step at a time.
