Stupid question(s), Dave or Tinker ....

is the word "echo" in the examples to show it's where the echo goes/works or is it actually supposed to be included in the poem like that?

both examples have "echo" in them, but I understood the meanings without it being there.

Is it because the 'echo' is "answering" the question the poet poses and is therefore required (kind of like a dialogue tag)? If so, the echo could be anything? God, universe, a tree, a ladybug, the voices in my head?

I don't know why this is confusing me so much.
