October Novel Prep Challenge

As my novel will be about time travel with the characters being in an alternate 1980, due to Jon Smith going as far back as the ancient Egyptian empire, would the story be more interesting if one or more characters were immune to the time changes? I am asking this as a possible third book in the series.
